WORD ON THE STREET IS..
I recently had a ride on a motorbike, from home to Eldoret town and my driver engaged me in an interesting conversation. Well, you know what got everyone talking these days, the life threatening virus. It did occur to me that most of the people at home are very ignorant when it comes to matters of Covid 19. But what i didn't quite get was why a person would think all this is a scam meant to benefit the government, even after witnessing the same disease taking down our own friends, relatives and politicians. However,I don't totally disagree i mean our government hasn't been transparent enough when it comes to money matters and other businesses. I totally wouldn't blame anyone for having such negative thoughts.
Seconds after getting on the 'bodaboda' Covid 19 was all over the atmosphere. Not literally😁."Hii corona iko kweli? " He asked, and that's how our conversation kicked off. He continued, "unakumbuka ule dem Brenda, mwenye alipona Corona, ni serikali ilikuwa inatupanga." https://youtu.be/NDFFHTGxVXU.(click link to watch a video) Ofcourse i do remember her, who doesn't, i mean even Mr president knows Brenda and Brian. They were all over the news for being among the first patients to recover from Covid 19. Some of the details about their recovery didn't quite add up and it got alot of people talking."Huyo dem alipewa pesa mzuri sana kudanganya, " he continued. I felt this wasn't a valid reason to doubt the existence of Covid 19. After watching so many people succumb to it, it was so clear we're at war here, with an invisible enemy. For we are dealing with a pandemic that has disrupted the peace of the whole world, not just Kenya. The question is, was this bodaboda guy wrong to trusting his gut?
Something else that caught my attention was in 2021, Covid 19 will be no more. People are eagerly waiting for the new year's eve to celebrate not just the new year, but the end of this disease. It's good to be optimistic, a little positivity in a life full of darkness may bring light and hope sometimes. But reality is, currently our country doesn't have any vaccine. The countries that have managed to get vaccines are still doing tests for no one is sure of anything anymore. And even if there's a vaccine we're a third world country it will take time for us to get some. While 2021 is here, Covid 19 is still here. It's about time we accept the reality maybe this will be a step closer to finding the cure.
People have different stories, ideas and opinions about Covid 19. Every time i step out there's always something new about this disease. It's even hard to keep track of what's true and what's not anymore. There's just alot of information out there spreading more than the virus itself. Who is to blame though, is it the government for failing to educate these people and not being transparent enough, or the people for being ignorant and failing to admit what's there? This got me thinking 🤔 .
Ooh wow! I think when it hits home that's when some "ignorant" people will start being responsible.
ReplyDeleteGood job woman.... It is so sad that we don't still believe that covid is with us... But also the government has used many pandemics to 'steal' money from us that's why we don't believe

ReplyDeleteGreat piece and I couldn't agree more.
ReplyDeleteI love how during this period there has been freedom of information. People are openly questioning what the government is really doing.
Revolution is coming ✌️
Great work.
